Around the World with Bose Sound
What do an Australian rugby stadium, a Middle Eastern community center and an ice rink in Pakistan have in common? They all feature Bose sound systems.

Each venue has its own challenges in presenting quality sound to its visitors—here's a look at the role played by Bose professional sound products.
Location: Queensland, Australia; Venue: Skilled Park rugby stadium
Australians are passionate about rugby, and turn out in great numbers to root for their favorite teams. So Gold Coast Titans fans were thrilled when their team opened the new $160-million Skilled Park stadium in March 2008. The stadium turned to Bose for its sound, making this the first major installation of Bose FreeSpace® DS 16 speakers in Australia.
Skilled Park Stadium
The 27,000-seat stadium, located in the suburb of Robina, features 100 open corporate boxes, 28 closed corporate suites, a 500-seat center and 16 food-and-beverage outlets. Given the different configurations of these areas and the main arena, the sound installer spent eight months researching and preparing a system that would overcome environmental noise and provide clear speech reproduction throughout.
The Bose system installed (including Panaray® LT loudspeakers) provides clearer sound without interference, especially in the mid-to-high frequencies. It ensures tightly focused coverage and minimizes "overlap zones" common to conventional speaker arrays.
With a new stadium, an exciting team and a state-of-the-art sound system to complement the action on the field, Titans fans will have plenty to cheer about for years to come.
Location: Karachi, Pakistan; Venue: The Arena recreational facility
If you want to enjoy ice skating, rock climbing, bowling, snooker (a billiards game) and a variety of cuisines in Pakistan, there's only one place to go: The Arena in Karachi.
The sound designers for The Arena faced a number of challenges in developing an effective system, with high levels of ambient noise and reverberations caused by high ceilings; hard surfaces; and heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
Panaray 402 loudspeakers
In the ice rink, for instance, designers needed broad, even dispersion coverage and consistent sound quality from one end of the rink to the other. They chose Bose Panaray® 402 loudspeakers, which can satisfy those needs—and also withstand low temperatures.
A variety of Bose loudspeakers were chosen to satisfy sound needs for other areas of the facility. So whether you're bowling a few frames, shooting a game of snooker or just relaxing in the party hall, you can enjoy the sound as much as the activity.
Location: Dubai, UAE; Venue: Ismailia community center
In March 2008, the first Ismaili center in the Middle East opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Inspired by traditional Egyptian and Syrian architecture, the seven-domed brick and wooden structure has drawn community leaders from around the world, and Bose sound is part of the experience.
Ismaili community center
Set amidst courtyards, picturesque gardens and lush watercourses, the center's sound system has to provide clear, intelligible audio in different settings, while blending into the diverse environment.
Not an easy goal. To achieve these objectives, the Bose distributor in the UAE took more than four years to design, supply and install all the center's loudspeakers. They selected a variety of products (Bose Virtually Invisible® 191 speakers, along with FreeSpace Model 32SE and FreeSpace Model 8 loudspeakers) specifically for their clarity and even sound coverage.
The result is an unobtrusive sound system that doesn't distract from the center's mission: Create a learning environment that enriches discussions, featuring regular recitals and exhibitions.
Location: Mogale City, South Africa; Venue: Silverstar Casino
A casino is more than slot machines, poker and blackjack tables. It can be an immersive entertainment experience, filled with dynamic sound and pulsating music. That's why the Silverstar Casino in South Africa chose their sound system providers carefully.
Silverstar Casino
This riverfront casino features banquet and conference facilities, five restaurants, a fast-food court, bars and a 60-meter musical fountain imported from Europe. The site also borders a nature conservancy, offering visitors magnificent views of the surrounding area.
The Bose dealer in South Africa developed an integrated system to network the entire casino, complete with audio, visual and lighting solutions. This was no small feat: The complex boasts approximately 400 Bose ceiling loudspeakers, 40 Bose in-ground loudspeakers and 30 Bose outdoor speakers.
And some of those outdoor speakers needed to be concealed. The boardwalk area—where the fountain can be viewed—requires high-performance hidden speakers that can endure the outdoor environment. The solution? Unique Bose FreeSpace 360P in-ground loudspeakers. Whether guests are inside enjoying the excitement or outside relaxing, quality sound is right there to enhance their experience.
